MS Whisky Festivals Raised Spirits and Funds in Support of Canadians Living with Multiple Sclerosis
Funds Raised During the Two, Single Day Evening Events Go Toward MS Research and Programs by MS Canada
After two successful MS Whisky Festivals this January, we’re pleased to share that the events raised a combined $156,000 in support of MS Canada! For more than a decade, both MS Whisky Festivals have brought together thousands of Albertans looking to support the multiple sclerosis (MS) community, while also raising spirits and funds for MS Canada.
“Our MS Whisky Festivals are all about connection. We welcomed the new year with local whisky enthusiasts in support of the MS community,” said Meredith Bongers, Senior Director, Community, Western Canada with MS Canada. “Community-led events like these are vital for us to continue funding both our program and service delivery, and ground-breaking research that gets us closer to a world free of MS.”
The MS Edmonton Whisky Festival showcased a sold-out VIP experience with crystal-cut glasses, traditional Scottish dancers and bagpipes while the vendors poured over one hundred different varieties of scotches and whiskies. A special thank you to Vines-Riverbend Wine Merchants as the Edmonton event would not be possible without their support.
This year, the MS Calgary Whisky Festival took a bold step with a new venue – the Telus Spark Science Centre. The VIP experience was equally impressive, with a dedicated space with exclusive food and whisky offerings. With nearly sixty vendors as well as nine master classes, the festival was a true celebration of all things whisky. Thank you to Kensington Wine Market and Miller Thomson LLP as the Calgary event would not be possible without their support.
Funds raised through the MS Whisky Festivals support Canadians living with MS across the country by offering various programs and services, such as the MS Knowledge Network, peer support groups, and more. Funds also support groundbreaking research projects investigating the causes, treatments, and pathways to cures - working towards a world free of MS.
