Join us to learn more about a recent study that compared the effects of the Swank and Wahls Diets in people living with MS, which found that both diets were associated with meaningful reduction in MS symptoms and improved quality of life. Dr. Terry Wahls has secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years; but she restored her health using a diet and lifestyle program she designed specifically for her brain and now pedals her bike to work each day. Dr. Wahls links micronutrient starvation to the epidemics of chronic diseases that are overtaking modern society. Americans are eating so poorly, that the majority are missing key building blocks that are needed for brain cells to be healthy. In her book, Minding My Mitochondria: How I overcame Secondary Progressive MS and Got Out of My Wheelchair, she teaches the reader how to eat for healthy mitochondria, a healthy brain and a healthy body in language that is clear and concise, even for those without a science background. She tells us what vitamins, minerals and essential fat building blocks are needed by the mitochondria and other key structures. She’s also done research to compare the Wahls Diet to other diets directed to people living with MS.
