We are pleased to announce the following MS Talk presentations for the Fall of 2018:
Getting Ready for Winter
November 13, 11:30-12:30
Melissa Colbeck OT Reg. (MB)
Preparing before the snow flies gives us time to look into winter-friendly ways to continue our day-to-day routine while staying warm and safe. This session discusses how to stay physically, mentally and emotionally healthy in a season where many are housebound. Discussion varies from fall prevention to grocery delivery services to social planning.
Use Your Sensory Profile to Live
Well
December 10, 1:00-2:00
Melissa Colbeck OT Reg. (MB)
Every person has a unique sensory profile that shapes how we
experience the world. Our likes and dislikes, how we relax and
what we find engaging is hardwired into who we are. We can all
use our sensory profiles to figure out how to rest and
rejuvenate, or what to avoid or limit so we don’t waste energy.
This session will explain how we can use sensations of
taste/smell, movement, vision, sound, and touch to tap in to our
hardwired resilience in order to improve health and
wellbeing.
Melissa Colbeck is the occupational therapist at the MS
Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre. She works with people
living with MS and their support systems, and also provides
consultation to therapist working in the community. She also does
research and special projects. View the most recent videos on
