Join in Solidarity with the MS Community This World MS Day by Participating in the Digital Carnation Pinning
On May 30, show your support and take action for the MS community across Canada and beyond
TORONTO, ON (May 30, 2025) — May 30 marks World MS Day, a global day of solidarity for the nearly 3 million people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) worldwide. This year, Canadians are invited to join the global MS community by participating in MS Canada’s Digital Carnation Pinning, an initiative aimed at raising awareness of MS in support of those affected by the disease.
World MS Day serves as a platform for collective action and hope, bringing together people impacted by MS to share stories, raise awareness, and campaign for change. This year’s theme, My MS Diagnosis, advocates for early and accurate diagnosis while highlighting the barriers many face in receiving timely care.
Through collaboration with international MS organizations and research institutions, substantial progress has been achieved in understanding the disease and developing effective treatments. With a strong foundation of global partnerships, ongoing initiatives in Canada and abroad continue to focus on identifying risk factors and emphasizing the importance of early detection and intervention—key elements in improving health outcomes for those affected by MS.
This year, Canadians can show their support and raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis by taking part in the Digital Carnation Pinning taking place on May 30. For more than 50 years, the carnation has symbolized hope in the MS community—and this year, with the Digital Carnation Pinning campaign on social media—Canadians can join in and #TakeActionforMS no matter where they live.
“Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world—it’s Canada’s disease,” says Marie Vaillant, MS Canada volunteer, diagnosed with MS in 1996. “Since I was diagnosed with MS 30 years ago, great strides have been made in the development of disease modifying therapies. I’ve seen first-hand the remarkable progress that’s been made and am hopeful for the future. I believe we are well positioned to achieve our goal of a world free of MS, so that one day, no Canadian will ever hear the words ‘you have MS’.”
By showing up and sharing the Digital Carnation Pinning online, you’re supporting the over 90,000 Canadians that are living with MS and letting them know that they don’t have to navigate their MS journey alone.
