MS Canada Celebrates Global Solidarity, Collective Action and Hope During Annual World MS Day on May 30

With almost three million people living with multiple sclerosis around the world, World MS Day brings much needed awareness to the global MS community

With one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis (MS) worldwide, MS Canada is proud to participate in World MS Day—a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and improving the lives of the nearly three million people worldwide living with MS.

Led by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF), World MS Day brings the global MS community together on May 30 to share stories and raise awareness with and for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). This year’s theme of Diagnosis advocates for early and accurate diagnosis for everyone living with MS and highlights the critical role of early detection and intervention in improving the lives of those affected by MS.

While everyone experiences MS differently, the unpredictable and episodic nature of the disease means that everyone’s MS journey is unique—but that doesn’t mean they have to navigate their journey alone. This year’s My MS Diagnosis campaign spotlights the global barriers to diagnosing MS and raises much needed awareness by sharing real stories. Highlighted in the video listed below, the My MS Diagnosis Animation features the real voices of people living with MS across the globe. Listen to Jonathan, Rayan, Leonardo, Kanya and Jessica share their diagnosis stories.

As a founding member of the International Progressive MS Alliance and a longstanding member of the MSIF, MS Canada plays a pivotal role in global collaborative efforts to advance research, treatment, and well-being initiatives for progressive MS and the MS community in Canada and around the globe, including World MS Day.

World MS Day is officially marked as May 30, but events and campaigns take place throughout the month of May and across Canada to help spread awareness and advocate on behalf of the MS community including The May 50K and MS Walk.
