Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is one of multiple ways to provide a charitable gift. It is a personal charitable account established and named by an individual or family through a CRA qualified organization or existing public foundation. Administration, investment and maintenance is the responsibility of the public foundation, who charges an overall management fee to operate the DAF. You can open a DAF with some foundations for as little as $10,000 which will grow tax-free. Any contribution to your DAF account is eligible for an immediate donation receipt. Friends, family and anyone else can also contribute to your DAF and receive a tax receipt.

If you are interested in setting up a DAF, we recommend you speak with your financial advisor who can review your financial and philanthropic goals and situation, guide you on your next steps, recommend which organization to use, and how best to start your fund.  You can set up your DAF with an investment of cash, securities or even a life insurance policy.

At MS Canada, we gratefully accept gifts from your DAF, which will help to make a lasting impact on the MS community. Your support will be invested in cutting-edge research, bringing us closer to  a cure, and into vital programs that provide hope, support and empowerment to individuals and families living with MS. None of this would be possible without your commitment.
