Researchers and clinicians seeking MS Canada's help promoting a study that requires participants must submit a request through the MS Research Portal. Requests are reviewed against the guidelines below.
Role of MS Canada in promoting studies that are looking for participants
Any researchers or clinicians seeking support from MS Canada to assist with promoting a research study that requires participants must submit a request through the MS Research Portal. The request is reviewed internally and a decision is communicated back to the researcher or clinician within 10 business days.
Once a request has been approved, MS Canada may promote the study through the MS Research Portal and through other communications.
MS Canada's role in the recruitment process is limited to sharing information about research studies and trials seeking participants. All communication regarding recruitment is handled directly between study contacts and prospective participants.
MS Canada will not promote recruitment for studies or trials that do not meet our eligibility guidelines.
Eligibility of Requests
Only projects and trials related to publicly funded academic institutions, research institutes, hospitals, or community-based organizations that have been approved by a recognized funding agency with a peer review process are eligible to be posted.
Documentation demonstrating Research Ethics Board (REB) approval is required for the application to be considered. This can be in the form of a signed letter on institutional letterhead including the title of the study, funding term, and stated approval for ethics.
The study or trial must also be relevant to multiple sclerosis. Recruitment for in-person participants must be at a recognized host institution site within Canada. Virtual studies (interviews, surveys, focus groups) may be submitted by an international institution.
We do not currently promote recruitment for research studies or trials related to pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, marketing research firms, consulting firms, or other for-profit enterprises.
Closing a study
Please inform MS Canada when recruitment for a project or trial has closed by emailing researchportal@mscanada.ca. The closing date provided on the application will be used to remove studies from the listing unless we are notified otherwise.
Published research
If the research being proposed is later published, please forward the PDF of the article to researchportal@mscanada.ca. A summary of the findings may be shared on MS Canada's website as an MS Update.
